Privacy Policy

Last updated

StackSauce is operated by Studio 8 Collective ("we", "us"). This policy explains what personal data we collect when you read, subscribe to or sign in to StackSauce, why we collect it, who processes it for us, and the rights you have over it, including under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023.

Data we collect

We collect only what we need to run the site and the accounts you choose to create.

  • Your email address, when you sign in or subscribe to updates.
  • Your name, when you give it to us as you create an account.
  • A one-time sign-in code, when you sign in by email. The code expires shortly after it is sent.
  • Technical data such as your IP address, browser type and the pages you request, which our hosting provider records to deliver and protect the site.

How we use it

We use your personal data to:

  • Sign you in and keep you signed in.
  • Send the emails you ask for, such as sign-in codes and updates you subscribed to.
  • Protect the site against abuse, spam and automated attacks.
  • Understand and fix problems with the site.

Cookies

We use cookies that keep you signed in until you sign out or they expire, and that protect sign-in forms. These cookies are strictly necessary. We do not use advertising cookies.

If you block these cookies, you can still read public articles, but you cannot sign in.

We use Cloudflare Web Analytics to measure page views and performance. It sets no cookies, removes query strings from the page addresses it collects and does not store your IP address.

Who processes your data for us

We share personal data only with service providers that process it on our behalf to run StackSauce:

  • Cloudflare, which hosts and delivers the site and provides Turnstile, a check that tells people and automated traffic apart.
  • Neon, which hosts our database.
  • Resend, which sends our emails.

Where your data is processed

Some of these providers may process your personal data outside India. When they do, we rely on their contractual commitments to protect it, and we follow any restrictions the Government of India sets on such transfers.

Children

StackSauce is not directed at anyone under 18. A person under 18 may have an account only with verifiable consent from a parent or lawful guardian. If we learn that we hold personal data of a person under 18 without that consent, we delete it.

How long we keep it

We keep your account data for as long as your account exists. We keep your subscription data until you unsubscribe. We delete or anonymise personal data when we no longer need it for these purposes, unless the law requires us to keep it longer.

Your rights

Under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, you have the right to:

  • Access a summary of the personal data we hold about you and how we process it.
  • Correct, complete or update your personal data.
  • Erase your personal data, and withdraw any consent you gave.
  • Raise a grievance with us and receive a response.
  • Nominate another person to exercise these rights on your behalf if you die or become unable to do so.

Contact and grievances

To use any of these rights or to raise a grievance, email mailme@sachinbhatnagar.com. You can also write to Studio 8 Collective, #8, Sector 10 - A, Chandigarh.

If you are not satisfied with our response, you may complain to the Data Protection Board of India.
